ATV Lift Kits and Tire Packages — What to Know Before You Buy

Adding a lift kit and larger tires to an ATV can dramatically improve its capability off-road, but there's more to it than bolting on lift spacers and mounting bigger tires. Lift kits change the suspension geometry, and larger tires affect speedometer accuracy, axle joint angles, and can put additional load on bearings. Getting the lift and tire combination right for your machine and your riding style makes the difference between a capable build and one that wears out parts early.

What We Inspect

  • Existing suspension geometry and lift compatibility with the machine
  • CV axle and ball joint angles after lift installation
  • Steering clearance — do larger tires contact the chassis at full lock?
  • Wheel spacer requirements for the tire width
  • Tire size compatibility with the machine's rated capacity

Professional Diagnosis

Larger tires put more stress on CV joints and wheel bearings. Lift kits that change the CV angle beyond its operating range will destroy the CV joint in short order. We evaluate the geometry before recommending a lift height and tire size combination.
